Melinda Schmiedeknecht, CNO

profile social media consultantAs Chief Networking Officer, Melinda loves the challenge of juggling both left and right brain functions.  From spreadsheets and databases to graphic design and social media, she has been fortunate to gain a broad spectrum of business experience. Most important to her with any job is to believe in what she’s doing and know that she’s making a difference in others’ lives.

A graduate of Liberty University, Melinda grew up in Texas where she met her husband and promptly moved to Atlanta nine months after they married. Her background includes: working in the healthcare insurance industry; training business and networking courses; supporting business development for an international corporation; and operating her own web design and marketing business.

During her tenure with Rolls-Royce North America (airplane engines, not the cars, rats!) she was fortunate that her job allowed her to get involved with the British-American Business Council here in Atlanta, where she would eventually sit on the board of directors.

In her previous role as Marketing Director for BNI Southeast, she recognized early on the value of social media and created a system to help the company’s approximately 100 business networking groups leverage this marketing tool. Her measures resulted in thousands of fans and followers. Subsequently, through her role as Social Media Consultant, Resonate Marketing also increased BNI Southeast’s reach by 113% and engagement by 160%.

When Melinda’s not running after her two kids or working, she enjoys designing jewelry, scrapbooking, and reading. After years of correcting people who kept calling her Melanie or Melissa, she happily began going by the nickname of Mel.  (This shortened name became even more convenient when she adopted her husband’s last name with 14 letters.)

Melinda’s family attends the Woodstock campus of Northpoint Community Church and she has also been involved closer to home at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.
